Best Poetry Books 2009

To be fair, I really haven’t read a lot of poetry books this year (terrible, I know!). But the ones below have stuck with me:

1. Maximum Gaga by Lara Glenum (Action Books). I effing love this book. She’s brilliant.

2. Rising by Farrah Field. For whatever reason, I keep coming back to this book as a place to feel good. That goes a long way for me.

3. The Bodyfeel Lexicon by Jessica Bozek. Fine, it’s a Switchback book. I believe in it.

4. I Have to Go Back to 1994 and Kill a Girl by Karyna McGlynn. Best title ever.

Because I didn’t read that much, here are books that I’ve been dying to read and that may have made the list had I gotten around to it:

1. Ohio Violence by Allison Stine.

2. Sunny Wednesday by Noelle Kocot.

3. Stars of the Night Commute by Ana Božičević.

4. The Stranger Manual by Catie Rosemurgy.
